What is Naturopathic Medicine?
Naturopathic medicine is a holistic healthcare approach that blends modern scientific knowledge with traditional and natural forms of medicine. It aims to treat the whole person, addressing physical, mental, and emotional well-being. A primary goal of naturopathy is to identify and treat the root cause of symptoms, rather than just managing them.

Naturopathic Doctors (NDs) use evidence-based therapies, including nutrition, botanical medicine, physical medicine, and lifestyle counseling, to improve health and promote long-term wellness. Naturopathic medicine can be used in conjunction with conventional treatments to enhance healing and improve overall well-being.

What to expect during a naturopathic appointment?
 Initial Consult
This appointment is 75 minutes in length. During this visit, I will get to know your health history in detail and we will set health goals together. Blood tests and functional lab tests may be recommended during this appointment when indicated. A treatment plan will be put into place.

Follow Up Appointments
Follow-up visits are between 30-45 minutes in length. We will check in on your ongoing plan and how things are progressing, as well as make any changes as needed. We will discuss any updates to your health and/or new health concerns that you may have.

Is naturopathic medicine covered under insurance?
Naturopathic care is not covered under OHIP. However, most extended health benefits cover naturopathic services. Check with your insurance provider to determine your coverage. Direct billing is currently not offered but receipts are provided to submit for reimbursement.

What Conditions Can Naturopathic Medicine Treat?
Naturopathic medicine can support the treatment of a wide range of conditions, including digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, autoimmune conditions, stress, anxiety, fatigue, and more.

How long does it take to see results?
The time to see results varies depending on the condition being treated and the individual. Some people experience improvements in a short time, while others may need longer-term care for chronic conditions. Your ND will work with you to develop a timeline and set realistic expectations.
